The curtains at the window were drawn, hiding a stormy nighttime sky, while the warm fire continued to blaze in its stone grate, heating every inch of the ornate bedroom. Wind howled beyond the panes while Aquyn stared unseeing at the Kirix demon still sleeping soundly in his bed, listening absently to the popping sounds of the flame-consumed logs. For the moment he lived inside his memories; flashes of pain, terror and grief. Then, oddly, he walked through happier times, in more pleasant places from long ago. Crux, curiously, represented these images and feelings, good and bad alike. Aquyn hardly knew the demon. I

-- Crenen! I cried after a moment of utter shock. Guys! I heard their rushed footsteps as they stumbled to come as quickly as possible through the dark antechamber. Lightning flashed again, reaffirming the image I had seen carved and painted into the stone wall before me. Despite the ancientness of this place, the painted mural had been completely unharmed by weather, overgrowth or any other ages-old abuses it may have faced. Perhaps, I considered, the Seers had used a sort of preservation magic to keep it from harm. As the six sets of

-- A quick phone call home had gotten Jenny out of a world of trouble. Had she been anyone else's daughter countless charges would have been on her record for years, but as it stood her name had been cleared and her record was sponged clean. She would have felt worse about breaking the law if it hadn't been for the fact that, even if the world didn't know it, she had been saving it. Just keep telling yourself that, she said under her breath as she walked from the police department, limping slightly from her accident. She reached the bottom of the dozen steps and gingerly walked to the e

In My GardenDon't be shy.In My Garden
Walk into my garden, beyond the outer wall. Hear the crickets playing and water trickling down the rocks. Wind whispers in the trees, while birds chirp happily.
Stay a while.
Walk along the rocky pathway. Follow laughing grass. Bask in summer sunlight. Breathe deeply. Drink it in.
A precious treasure lies just ahead. Turn the corner see the squirrels at play?
Just a little farther.
Do you see my roses? Deepest red, purest white and vibrant, lovely pink. &nbs

Aquyn stood before the Lithisian castle, incognizant of the biting wind whipping strands of blood-red hair around his face, occasionally stinging his bright blue eyes or wrapping around his neck. A second storm was blowing in from the ocean. This one smelled like snowan oddity this late in the springbut he cared little about the storm, or its bitterness. He only cared that he didn't want to enter the castle, but that he had little choice in the matter. He had been sent by his master to deliver what the man claimed was an 'urgent and highly important' letter, though he never divulged what it contained. St

| Genre: Science Fantasy Rated: PG for action violence, intensity and brief graphic images. by *robertmekis| I have been a writer since I was twelve, but I've been a storyteller all my life. Twenty-two moves through my youth gave me ample opportunities to see the world, experience people and cultivate a highly (sometimes overly) active imagination; thus, the fantasy genre called out to me, demanding my attention. Story ideas haunt me in the night. Characters demand birth. And I love every disturbing moment of it. |
